A Love Story

I have a love story to share with you, dear little child of mine. Your mother was young and had her sights set on being a teacher who could influence the world. Your father was creative in his work and noble in character. They met at an Easter celebration with friends. He introduced himself, leaning across the table to shake her hand. She offered him some brownies she’d baked. They went on their first date within the week. They were engaged within six months. They married within the year. They moved into their first home together – a cosy little unit with just enough space for two. They celebrated their love in that little unit in a hundred different ways through the precious moments they shared together each day.

Then, about three years later, they decided that their cosy little home was too small. It had just enough space for two, but they were about to become three. So they moved to a new place with a little more space. Still cosy enough when they were snuggled together, and still perfect for celebrating their love in a hundred different ways – including their love for you. You were made with love, to love and to be loved. Part of our love story is you, dear little child of mine.

But there’s more to the love story, dear little child of mine. Your mother and father were made with love too. And even those children whose parents never shared the same love as your parents did, were ultimately made with love.

For, there is an even deeper love than what we can offer each other. That is the love of The Creator, who gave us life and the capacity to love and be loved. He enables us to influence the world, to be creative in our work and noble in character. We were celebrating his love for us that Easter when your father and I met. He meets us where we’re at and offers us his best. He is with us through dating, engagement and marriage. Our home is with him. He shows his love to us in a hundred different ways each day. His heart has enough space for everyone. He made us all with love, to love and to be loved. Part of his love story is you, dear little child of mine.
